- will identify the actual reason for the suspension,
- Fix website and feed issues,
- And how to properly request a re-review to get your account reinstated.
This guide is not just a simple blog post, I put together my real-world experience, client case studies, and practical solutions, so you can fix your Google Merchant Center Suspension like an expert.
Step 1: Determine the Cause of Suspension
Google never directly says, This is why your Merchant Center is suspended. However, there are some clues in their dashboard. But the Google Merchant Center Diagnostics Tab gives vital clues:
Check the Google Merchant Center Dashboard
First, log in to Google Merchant Center and go to the Diagnostics tab.
There you will see:
- Policy violation notice
- Product-level error messages
- Account-level suspension reason (for example: Misrepresentation, Inaccurate Pricing, Inconsistent Business Info)
These are usually:
Suspension Reason | Description |
Misrepresentation | Inaccurate business information, unclear return policies, or messy websites |
Inaccurate Product Data | Product price, stock status, or description is incorrect |
Unverified Business Info | GMB/Website info is not the same |
Site Doesn’t Meet Policy | No SSL, no legal pages |
Review Linked Google Accounts
If you have Google Ads, Business Profile, or other Google Account links to Google Merchant Center, review them as well. Sometimes a problem with one account affects other accounts as well.
For Tip: If you open a new account from your previously suspended account, Google may suspend it as Circumvention of Systems.
Step 2: Fix Website Issues)
Website credibility and quality are one of the biggest causes of Merchant Center suspensions. Google wants users to shop on a trusted and secure website.
So, check and fix the following on your website:
1. Ensure Business Info is Consistent Everywhere
Google wants your Business Name, Address, Phone (NAP) to be the same everywhere.
If you write EcomHustle LLC on your website, but write Ecom Hustle on your Google My Business or Facebook page, there will be an inconsistency. Google may consider this a misrepresentation.
Google may catch this as a misrepresentation.
Check These Platforms:
- Google Merchant Center
- Google Business Profile
- Your Website Footer
- Social Media Profiles
- Invoice PDFs
2. Improve Website Quality
Test your website speed with Google PageSpeed Insights. Slow site, broken links, and placeholder content are considered by Google as a quality risk.
Checklist:
- Homepage and product pages load properly or not
- Clicking on any link gives 404 or not
- Is there “Lorem ipsum” or Dummy Text?
- Is Website Mobile-Friendly (Check with Google Mobile Test Tool)
3. Add Essential Legal Pages
Many websites do not have Terms and Conditions, Refund Policy, or Privacy Policy. This is one of Google’s red flags.
Ensure these are clearly visible in your website footer:
- Privacy Policy
- Terms & Conditions
- Shipping Policy
- Return & Refund Policy
- Contact Us Page (with email, phone, address)
Pro Tip: Use clear language and last updated date on every policy page.
4. Install SSL Certificate
If your website URL http:// If yes, then it is not safe. Google rejects it.
Make sure your site uses https:// and has a valid SSL certificate installed. This is not only good for SEO, it also increases the trust factor. Users think you are a legit business.
5. Show Clear Contact Information
Google wants users to be able to contact us easily. The footer or Contact Us page should contain the following information:
- Phone Number
- Email Address
- Physical Business Address
- Contact Form (optional but helpful)
Warning: If you only provide a Gmail address (example@gmail.com), it looks unprofessional. Use a business email (example@yourdomain.com).
Step 3: Fix Product Feed Issues
The second largest suspension reason for Google Merchant Center is Product Feed Errors. That is, if your product information is misleading or incomplete, it is in Google’s eyes policy violation considered as.
Below are some important points that you cannot skip:
1. Unique & Informative Product Titles and Descriptions
Title and description of each product must be unique and accurate
Examples of incorrect writing:
- Best Shirt Ever – Limited Time Offer
- Too salesy, vague, and Google might consider it clickbait.
Good example:
- Men’s Slim Fit Cotton Shirt – Blue, Size M – Formal Wear
- What product, what features, what color – everything is clearly stated.
Pro Tip: Write something in the description that answers the user’s real questions like: material, fit, usage, compatibility, etc.
2. Avoid Misleading Claims
100% guaranteed results, No one can beat our price, or FDA-approved if these words are not supported as evidence, then Google suspends it as a misrepresentation.
Google’s policy is clear:
“Do not mislead users through exaggerated or unverifiable claims.”
So what you say must have a basis, such as a third-party certification, review, or policy page reference.
3. Keep Price and Availability Consistent
Google regularly scans your product feed and actual landing page. If the Product Feed says $49 but the website shows $55, then it is a pricing mismatch।
Besides, if the stock status is wrong, it says Available but Out of Stock on the site Google it inaccurate data considered as
Check these:
- Price (Including Tax & Currency)
- Availability (In Stock, Out of Stock, Pre-order)
- Sale Price Dates (set start and end time correctly)
According to Google’s terms, product prices and stock information must always be factual.
4. Use Unique, High-Quality Product Images
Google wants users to make decisions by seeing real and clear images.
These are wrong:
- Generic or low-res stock image
- Image filled with watermark or brand logo
- Multiple products are appearing together but the listing is one
These are correct:
- Single image of the product, on a white background
- Taken from different angles
- Contextual (optional): For example, someone is wearing a picture of pants
Suggestion: CTA increases if the product has a distinct lifestyle image. For example: See how it looks in real life! Learn more in our detailed post on Product Feed Optimization.
Step 4: Request a Re-review (Appeal the Right Way)
If you have fixed all the errors correctly in the first three steps, then it is now time to send a Re-review Request to Google. But many people make a mistake here and appeal beforehand.
Google repeatedly states in their Guidelines:
“Only request a re-review when all issues are fully resolved.”
Before You Submit
After fixing everything, check once with Checklist:
- Website Policy Pages Updated
- Product Feed Fully Synced
- Contact Info, SSL, Address Consistent
- No Critical Issue is showing in Diagnostic Tab
I use a Pre-Review Checklist for all clients, which I can provide separately if you wish.
How to Submit a Re-review
- Log in to your Google Merchant Center account.
- Go to the Diagnostics tab.
- If you’ve fixed all issues, you’ll see a “Request Review” button — simply click it.
Be Patient
Google usually takes 3-7 business days to complete a review. Sometimes it can take longer. Do not submit multiple requests during this time, as this may be considered a policy abuse
Bonus Tip: Keep Records
Keep a screenshot, URL log, or spreadsheet of the changes you make. This will serve as evidence if Google asks for it in the future..
When to Contact Google Support
If you’ve fixed everything and your Google Merchant Center account isn’t reactivated, it may be a deeper policy violation or misrepresentation. In this case, it’s wise to contact Google directly rather than just trying to fix it yourself.
When is it necessary to go to Support?
You can contact Google Support in the following situations:
- The suspension is not lifted even after repeated re-review
- You are sure that all policies are followed
- Misrepresentation or “Circumvention of Systems” message is showing
- Vague or unclear violation is showing in Diagnostics Tab
Remember, Google doesn’t always say in one word, they want you to solve problems on your own initiative. But they only help when you explain in detail, “What you fixed and why you believe your account is ready for reinstatement.”
